The beautiful city of Gulf Shores, Alabama received an upgraded ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC) grade of 1. This makes Gulf Shores the number one rated Alabama community south of Montgomery. This distinction is very prestigious, as less than 1 percent of cities and towns in the United States qualify with a grade 1 Public Protection Classification.
So what does this exactly mean? Well, the hard work of our public officials (including the mayor, city council and fire department) will pay off for citizens and business owners.
Because ISO is an advisory organization that collects useful pieces of information in assessing the insurance costs, upgrading the PPC to a classification of 1 means the people of Gulf Shores will benefit from two main advantages:
1. A better peace of mind. Knowing that the amenities and fire protection measures are top notch can help citizens sleep well at night. The PPC program gives updated information about fire protection services in municipalities across the country. It analyzes a number of factors, including emergency communications systems, staff and facilities of fire departments, accessibility and availability of water supplies, and community risk efforts to generate a classification. In the event of an emergency, it’s nice to know that Gulf Shores can rely on top-notch services.
2. Lower insurance rates. ISO assesses risk for the insurance industry, and those insurers lower premiums for communities who receive the upgraded PPC grades. This means more money in the pocket of businesses and citizens, which is always a good thing.
So a congrats is in order for all involved in helping our community achieve this classification. In our opinion, it’s another feather in the cap for Gulf Shores. If you ever have any questions about the area, please feel free to give me, Kris Powell, a call at Century 21 Meyer!
