Fall is among the best times of the year. When the weather cools and the summer crowds disperse, our Gulf Shores community stays active offering value to travelers without sacrificing the experience. Boasting temperatures from the 60s to 80s, you can walk the shoreline by day and stargaze comfortably at night while listening to the gentle waves crash on an empty beach. The still cooling summertime water heats the sea breeze making conditions ideal. Beyond the beaches, Gulf Shores continues to offer all the beauty you need. The community boasts several parks that are perfect for bird watchers and tree aficionados and plenty of outdoor options whether you want to go for a stroll or work on your golf game.
Off-Season Experiences and Pricing
We love for everyone to enjoy our community in the summer submerging themselves in our famous beaches, but the fall uniquely offers the perfect opportunity for a vacation on a budget. When tourism slows down, prices tend to lower. This allows you the opportunity to enjoy all of the beachside amenities at a fraction of what it costs during the summer.
Any community shops that are still over-inventoried from the summer may offer a bountiful array of souvenirs and keepsakes at discounted prices. Waiting for a table at one of our many local restaurants may not be an issue. Though occupancy may decline, the food quality remains the same.
Maybe you’re ready to get out and hit the trail in your favorite hiking boots or on your favorite mountain bike. Fewer crowds mean wide open spaces to explore all the nature you need. Ready to see nature from the water? Hop in a kayak, canoe, or paddle board and head out through one of our many coastal waterways. Even though it’s fall and cool, watch out for Lefty, our Gulf Shores resident alligator.
Special Events
While you’re here this fall, we invite you to join us for Alabama’s annual Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival which invites over 300 art, crafts, and – of course – shrimp vendors. Taste the freshly caught crustaceans and then take home your favorite new recipe.
Joining us for the last weekend in September? Come bird watching at the John L. Borom Alabama Coastal BirdFest where you can experience the joy of observing over 300 species of coastal birds.
Maybe you’re ready to travel out into the country a little and stop by one of the many apple orchards in the area where you can enjoy fresh pressed cider and newly picked apples.
