One hidden luxury of living in Gulf Shores is walking the streets and witnessing the stellar works of art that liven up our community. Take a walk anywhere in Gulf Shores and you’ll be inundated by sculptures, statues paintings and more that showcase the stylings of local artists.
Earlier this month, Turtle Tracks, a public art project aiming to raise awareness in the name of environmental conservation, sustainable tourism and Gulf Shore’s arts and culture, unveiled it’s second statue at the Beach Club. The statue was sponsored by Spectrum Resorts and designed by artist Sabrina Steuber.

Back in August, Turtle Tracks unveiled the project’s first turtle. The piece which was sponsored by Tacky Jacks and completed by Carolyn Wagner of Backbay Design Studio, a studio featuring excellent Gulf-inspired pieces completed by Wagner herself. The premise of Turtle Tracks is for artists to sign up and follow a predetermined template for the statues. Once built, the turtles are painted with vibrant colors and cool coastal patterns. The program helped create lasting pieces of art for the community to be proud of for years to come. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the proceeds from the program support additional cultural and environmental projects in the community.
The program also works in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance, which is a must see for art-lovers. The GCAA has a must-see gallery and offers interactive adult art education courses ranging from painting to photography. On Saturday, November 7th, dozens of artist will be on site to showcase and sell their work. The event will feature live music and activities for children.
